The best way to get an upgrade is to shop early and book your car as far in advance as possible. Car rental inventories are tighter than ever, so prices tend to be higher than in past years and supplies more limited. Many companies do not require a credit card to make your car rental reservation, but it is always smart to cancel any car rental you find you do not need. Another easy suggestion, is to ask at the car rental counter.
Just as with hotel rooms, the agent at the desk may have the authority to upgrade your car rental reservation if they have the cars on the lot. So ask if an upgrade is available. This is especially true if you are a frequent traveler and use the same car rental agency regularly.
